Property Inheritance, Deferred Reference and Copredication

چکیده
Abstract There are sentences that coherent and possibly true, but in which there is at the very least appearance of a conflict between requirements two (or more) predicates applied to same argument. This phenomenon, known as copredication, raises various issues for linguistic theory. In this paper I defend develop an approach counting individuation copredication put forward previous work, dialogue with criticisms made by Liebesman & Magidor their own positive account copredication.

Specification and (property) inheritance in CSP-OZ
CSP-OZ [C. Fischer, CSP-OZ: A combination of Object-Z and CSP, in: H. Bowman, J. Derrick (Eds.), Formal Methods for Open Object-Based Distributed Systems, FMOODS’97, vol. 2, Chapman & Hall, 1997, pp. 423–438] is a combination of Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) and Object-Z (OZ). It enables the specification of systems having both a state-based and a behaviouroriented view using the obj...
متن کاملConcurrent Non-deferred Reference Counting on the Microgrid: First Experiences
We present a first evaluation of our novel approach for nondeferred reference counting on the Microgrid many-core architecture. Non-deferred reference counting is a fundamental building block of implicit heap management of functional array languages in general and Single Assignment C in particular. Existing lock-free approaches for multicore and SMP settings do not scale well for large numbers ...
متن کاملDeriving Semantic Information through Property Covering and Inheritance
Covering is a well known relationship in semantic and object oriented data models Covering holds when a class is the union of a collection of subclasses However covering has been studied only for entity classes In this paper we investigate covering for properties as well We introduce a new relationship among properties called property covering Property covering holds when a property restricted ...
متن کاملIdentity Criteria of CNs: Quantification and Copredication
the situation becomes more subtle and evolved because, in such more complex situations, proper semantic treatments seem to require that appropriate identity criteria for the CN be determined according to contextual information. People have discussed how to deal with identity criteria involved in copredication including, for example, [1, 4, 5]. In particular, Gotham [4, 5] gives a detailed analy...
متن کاملThe Theory of Classification, Part 9: Inheritance and Self-Reference
This is the ninth article in a regular series on object-oriented type theory, aimed specifically at non-theoreticians. The previous article demonstrated how the intuitive notion of class in object-oriented languages has a strictly formal interpretation that is more general than the simple notion of type [1]. A class can be modelled as an F-bounded polymorphic type, representing a family of simi...
